I am often ask about what is Geocaching? Well its walking and a treasure hunt combined, using Gps co-ordinates that take you to unusual places.
www.geocaching.com is the site to look for, its free and its also fairly easy to find Caches around the area where you live and also when you are away on holiday it makes for an entertaining trip out.
You can of course make the trips as long or short as you want, personally I live to leave the car a number of miles away, put the Gps numbers in and follow the directions. Modern Gps receivers now are very accurate, most modern mobile phones have this facility and can get you to within yards of the Cache which is normally a small plastic box or similar, but if hidden in a wall then you may have to spend a few minutes looking for it. Inside is normally some paper where you can just leave your name and any comments, but please be sure to re-seal the box and put it back where you found it.
We are lucky here on Lanzarote that there are a number of very good locations that people like myself have put a cache. So next time you are here and you fancy doing something different then give it a go. Or if you ever want information on walking the island I would be only to pleased to help. Below are some of the pictures I took of the area where my cache is hidden.
