Calima

So a couple of weekends ago we had wild and windy weather here in Charco del Palo and this Sunday (24th June) we have a big Calima.  This is when the sand and dust from the Sahara desert gets into the air and when gravity pulls it to earth, well you’ve guessed, everything gets covered in dust.  The air is thick at the moment, you can’t see the sky or the sea, its just very grey and very warm.  Unfortunately the Calima is still with us today (Monday) and the temp is already 30degrees and suffocating.  Yuk,  we do get some beautiful weather here in Lanzarote but when it wants to it can get really disgusting.  Sometimes at the end of Calima there is a downpour of rain which is much appreciated as it washes everything down, failing that its get the hosepipe out and do it yourself.  Luckily we do not have a hosepipe ban here in Lanzarote!!!  Oh well, perhaps the sun will be back tomorrow.
