More News Jardin Tropical

Today I got the chance to speak one to one with the new owner of the Jardin Tropical Restaurant.  His name is Nicolas or Nico for short, he is French and along with his native language he also speaks, German, Spanish and of course English.  Nico has lived in Lanzarote since 1969, has also lived in La Palma for a short while and is now settled in Guime, which is situated in the centre of Lanzarote.  Nico’s  previous restaurant some four years ago was situated in Tiagua and was called the Taberna Strelitzia.  He has also owned and run a one star Michelin restaurant in Cannes, France.  In all Nico has twenty six years experience in the restaurant trade.  His sister Ludivine arrives in the next few days to work along side him in this new venture here in Charco del Palo.  Nico did his training as a pastry chef and he has plans to have at least five dessert choices every day,  (I can feel the hips getting bigger just thinking about it),  Profiteroles,  Tarte Tatin,  these are just two of the things that he mentioned.   He plans to use fresh and seasonal produce when ever he can to create different menus, which will include tapas, entre, main course and lastly desserts.  To compliment the food he is importing French wines, including Chablis and Pouilly-Fumé to name but two.

I hope this has wet your appetite a little, and if you are in Charco del Palo in a few weeks time then you will be able to sample the food and wine and hopefully leave me a comment or two.

Open Sat 14th July

There is a sign outside the Jardin Tropical today announcing it's opening on Saturday 14th July. I will be in the Uk that weekend so will not be one of the first to sample their selection of French Wines. What a bummer !! I'll play catchup during the week don't worry. Hope they have a successful opening night.

I saw Nico today and he told me that the Jardin Tropical should be open on the 13th July.

Jardin Tropical Restaurant

When we visited in July 2011 this restaurant was not open, I think the previous owner was on holiday at the time. Great news that an enthusiastic restauranteer is taking it over.

Jardin Tropical

News just gets better. Back to at least three great eateries in the village and variety too!! Agree not good for the waist line, but a good walk along the malpais and a swim in the rock pools will help. Keep the info coming for us poor souls stuck in the disgusting British weather Wendy, perhaps you might be able to reproduce a menu when you see one to whet our appetites more!!

Menu

To right, as soon as there's a menu ready, I will post it on the site. Thanks for your comments. Wendy
