On Saturday, November 1st, Alan took me for a superb walk around Maguez. The scenery was quite impressive. Particularly on two spots, above on the Famara-cliff, it gave me the impression I was looking at a postcard ! The views to La Graciosa and Caleta de Famara were fantastic.
Although we have been coming to Lanzarote for many years I was surprised to walk between black lava-'fields' where the locals grow vegetables and Canarian patatos. I knew the vineyards in La Gueria, of course, but these fields were new to me.
Along the walk you will find noticeboards explaining the scenery in three languages (Spanish, English and German). They are made in metal, so they should last a while ! And, while reading them, you can have a stop and get your breath !
Alan's knowledge of the vegetation and the local way of life were certainly an advantage on my walk, so I learned a bit more on local water gathering and on local vegetation.
To make it short and snappy, a walk well worth doing when you next visit Lanzarote. !

There is now another walk on the walking page in both English & Dutch, enjoy.
