Roughly translated it says that Charco del Palo in Lanzarote is a real refuge for lovers of naturism, it is the first official naturist beach in the Canary islands and has been since the 70's. It goes on to say that the village has maintained its charm and for those seeking tranquility, sun, sea and nature then in Charco del Palo you still have these values. Charco del Palo is home to approx 180 registered inhabitants, the vast majority foreigners and most are original buyers of their properties and still visit or live here today. Tourists flock to this idyllic place for sun and naturism and the numbers throughout the year doubles the number of residents. "It is precisely the opportunity to be naked in contrast to nature, unmolested in an atmosphere of pure tranquility and where everyone shares the taste to go naked which attracts tourists from around the world and especially northern Europe" explains Ian Vest President of Charco del Palo Residents Committee.
One other comment came from Vice President Marco Moeschlin and he said "There are other naturist beaches in the Canary Islands and elsewhere, but this is the only urbanisation where you can visit, there are no doors, it is not private, there is no restricted access and where you can walk around the village naked without anyone looking weird or being surprised" The vice president has lived in Charco del Palo for more than a decade and extols the openness of this very special village in Lanzarote.
The committee also commented that it wants to work with the muncipalitly of Haria and Teguise to keep good the urbanisation, with adequate light, road infrastructure , maintenance of cleanliness, good care of the coast and to damage caused by extreme weather in the winter, as in other areas of the municipailty where residents also contribute their taxes.
Ian Vest has also confirmed that the Monkey Rock steps will be repaired in the next few days, also that the village will be getting new street lighting, hopefully by the end of this year. He also confirmed that after their latest meeting with alcalde (Mayor) last week the new 2 x 2 m sign for the village will be in place shortly confirming that Charco del Palo is Officially a Naturist Village!!
Myself along with the committee wish to thank you all for your support of our lovely naturist village. Long may you visit and enjoy the peach and tranquillity that Charco del Palo offers its visitors.
