I think most of you will know by now that Alan and I are not in Charco del Palo at the moment, we have decided to do a bit of traveling in the Peninsular, i.e. main land Spain and Portugal. We started the trip a few weeks earlier than expected because of various commitments in both the Uk and Ireland, and having spent the Easter weekend with friends and family set off on our journey on the 3rd April. Because I do not "Do Boats" we booked the channel tunnel and were on the 13.50 train that same afternoon. Once we were on the road in France we felt comfortable so we just kept going and got as far at Le Mans. We found a great hotel for the night and had a lovely dinner. We were on the road again at 8am the following morning and made it across the boarder and into Spain by about 4pm. We spend the second night in a Hotel and the third night in the Van ! eventful to say the least, we were all settled down for a good nights sleep and the Police turned up and asked Who we were and Where were we from, once they had this information they just said ok and drove away. A bit spooky though. Since then we have spent a damp and cold night in our tent at at camp site called Las Grullas, Alan didn't pump the mattress up enough and I rolled over and slipped out of bed like a beached whale.... not a pretty site. One night there and we quickly packed up and headed south, we were freezing in the tent. We stayed at Almanat for 10 nights, neither Alan or myself particularly like the site, very regimented and full of big motorhomes, we were one of three tents on the site and even there it was too cold to sleep in the tent so we used the van, which I have to say is cosy, warm and very comfortable. Once the weather settled down we headed in the direction of Cadiz and spent one night in the van at Cala de Aceite camping, we didn't bother to put the tent up because we realised we did not want to stay. So today Tuesday 17th April just two weeks into our trip we are at Monte Naturista O Barão somewhere in Portugal. We put the tent up and got settled in and even this site is not ticking all the boxes for us. I think because we live in Paradise it sometimes hard to find it elsewhere. Not sure what tomorrow will bring, we may move on again, we may stay for a few days. I will let you know in a day or so. In the meantime, here's some photos of our trip so far.
My name is Wendy and I live in Charco del Palo with my husband Alan. We created Nudelanza -
