Siggy Plumm lived next door to us and as such we became friends although sometimes it was difficult to make ourselves understood. But we laughed trying.
At 72 years old he was still working everyday and he loved doing just that, he was never happier than when rushing around the village doing odd jobs or fitting satellite dishes for people.
He was also our village chairman and had been doing the job for many years.
Sadly last Tuesday Siggy passed away, his wish was to be cremated and then his ashes to be put in the grave alongside his wife Anna Maria up in the Haria cemetery.
Myself along with dozens of people from Charco del Palo were at the cemetery, it was a beautiful afternoon and I am glad that I went to say goodbye to my friend and neighbour.
Most people that holiday in Charco del Palo would never have met Siggy but he was always doing things in the village to make things better for both us residents and visitors alike. He will be missed for many reasons, it's now very quiet next door and it's strange not to hear the car start 60 times a day and go roaring up the road, the voice you could hear 100 mtrs away, it's strange that you miss the small things.
He was a larger than life character and will be missed by many people.
